Overview
DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) is the standard for in-band telephone signaling. Callr provides two actions for working with DTMF: gather@v2 to collect keypad input from callers, and dtmf@v1 to send tones programmatically during a call.
Collecting Input
The gather@v2 action pauses the call flow and waits for the caller to press keys. Configure maximum digits, inter-digit timeout, overall timeout, and a termination key (#). Combine with say@v2 to play a prompt before collecting input.
Sending Tones
The dtmf@v1 action sends DTMF tones during an active call. Use this to navigate third-party IVR systems, enter PINs or access codes, or interact with legacy telephony systems programmatically.
Use Cases
IVR menu navigation ("Press 1 for sales, 2 for support"). PIN verification flows. Automated interaction with external phone systems. Survey collection via keypad input.
